Slovakia beats Belarus 4-2 in world juniors

HELSINKI (AP) Lukas Hrusik broke a tie 19 seconds into the third period and Slovakia beat Belarus 4-2 on Sunday in its first round-robin game in the world junior hockey championship.

Patrick Koch, Filip Lestan and Juraj Siska also scored, and Adam Huska made 24 saves.

Vadim Malinovski and Ruslan Vasilchuk scored for Belarus, coming off a 6-0 loss to Finland on Saturday in its Group B opener.

In Group A, Soeren Nielsen and Mathias From scored to help Denmark open with a 2-1 victory over Switzerland. Thomas Lillie made 22 saves for Denmark.

Noah Rod scored for Switzerland, coming off an 8-3 loss to Sweden on Saturday.

The United States, a 4-2 winner over Canada in its Group A opener Saturday, will face Sweden on Monday. Canada will play Denmark.
