Brem leads Rebensburg, Gut after 1st run of World Cup GS

MARIBOR, Slovenia (AP) Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany won her second straight women's World Cup giant slalom on Saturday.

The 2010 Olympic champion finished in a two-run time of 2 minutes, 29.82 seconds to beat Ana Drev of Slovenia by 0.32, and Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein by 0.34. Rebensburg also won in Flachau, Austria, two weeks ago.

Eva-Maria Brem, who led after the opening run, dropped to fourth, 0.41 behind Rebensburg. The Austrian remained top of the season's discipline standings.

Lindsey Vonn failed to finish her second run but the American stayed overall leader as her main rival, Lara Gut of Switzerland, also skied out in the final run.
