Takanashi wins women's ski jump World Cup overall title

LAHTI, Finland (AP) Japanese teenager Sara Takanashi secured another overall women's ski jump World Cup title by winning the event in Finland on Friday for an unassailable lead.

Meanwhile, Michael Hayboeck of Austria won the men's ski jump from fourth place, but World Cup leader Peter Prevc of Slovenia still led comfortably overall.

The 19-year-old Takanashi took her 12th win in 15 starts to reach 1,410 points, a staggering 431 ahead of Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria, last season's World Cup champion.

Takanashi jumped 96 and 99.5 meters for 251.3 points. Slovenia's Maja Vtic was the runner-up, followed by Japan's Yuki Ito. Iraschko-Stolz finished fourth.

It was the third overall title for Takanashi, who has also finished second and third in the five-year history of women's World Cup ski jumping.

Hayboeck jumped 128 and 129 meters for 265.4 points to win the men's event.

Norway's Daniel Andre Tande had 263.0 points in second place with jumps of 126.5 and 127 meters, and Germany's Severin Freund took third with 259.5 points (125 and 128 meters).

Prevc sat on a seven-point lead over Tande after his first effort, 128 meters, but a tactical change to a lower starting gate did not work in the second round.

Prevc's second jump of 123 meters dropped him to fifth.

Prevc, who has won 11 times this season, leads the overall with 1,619 points. Freund was next best with 1,082.
