French skier Thomas Fanara's season ends after knee injury

VAL D'ISERE, France (AP) French skier Thomas Fanara says his season is over after injuring his right knee near the end of a World Cup race.

Fanara says on his Facebook page that a scan showed he ruptured his ACL.

The Frenchman will miss the world championships in February in St. Moritz, where he earned his first career World Cup win last season.

Despite sustaining the injury several gates from the finish in Val d'Isere on Sunday, Fanara still managed to place fourth behind teammate Mathieu Faivre.

The 35-year-old Fanara says he intends to return to skiing.

He says ''a lot of people are asking me the question if I'm hanging up my skis, but I can tell you that's not the case.''
