Tim Newcomb has written for Sports Illustrated since 2012 and covers stadiums, sneakers, design, training and technology across all sports. For stadium coverage, he’s walked the steel catwalk of the new roof at the U.S. Open’s Arthur Ashe Stadium, the behind-the-scenes features of the Daytona International Speedway, the green roof at Levi’s Stadium and construction sites aplenty. When it comes to sneakers, he’s sat down for one-on-ones with Kobe Bryant, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Klay Thompson, Jeff Teague, Jrue Holiday, Josh Smith and designers from Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Under Armour, Li Ning and Brandblack, to name a few. On the design, training and technology side, Tim writes a weekly Tech Talk column looking at training and performance in the world of sports, covers the latest in uniform trends and has discussed training and travel habits with some of the world’s biggest athletes.

Based in the Pacific Northwest, Tim is the author of four books geared toward students, including STEM in Sports: Engineering.
