NCAA Tournament 2024 Upset Predictions, Cinderella Teams & Schedule

Today, March Madness finally begins, as we get ready to kick things off with the round of 64. There are obviously some powerhouse teams in the tournament this year, but our experts want to look at something a bit more exciting, which is underdogs. Every March, there are a couple of lower-seeded teams that end up advancing and making a run. These Cinderella stories make the Madness so intense. In this article, we’ll look at two of our favorite underdog teams and their odds to win in the Round of 64.

NCAA Tournament 2024 Upset Predictions for the Round of 64 Starting Today

Today, we are in for a treat as the 64 best college basketball teams in the nation will look to make their run at a National Championship. The Uconn Huskies are looking to defend their title from last season, and they have a great squad once again. However, this article is not about the top teams. We’re looking at potential NCAA Tournament 2024 Cinderella teams.

The first squad that we want to cover is the NC State Wolfpack. NC State is coming off an upset win in the ACC Tournament over North Carolina, and they have all the momentum in the world. The Wolfpack finished the season with a 22-14 record, and clearly improved as the season moved along.

They may just be peaking at the right time heading into the Madness, and they have some great star players as well as role players. 6’9 and 275-pound DJ Burns Jr. has been an absolute force down low, and it’s clear that he is not afraid of the big moment. Also, Guard DJ Horne is coming off an explosive performance in their Championship game, where he dropped 29 points on 9-15 shooting. NC State is currently a five-point underdog against Texas Tech in the round of 64, but our experts are taking NC State Money Line (+170 at DraftKings).

Next, we want to turn our attention to New Mexico. They just won their Mountain West Championship over a solid San Diego State team, and they’re another team that’s catching fire at the perfect time. Despite being an 11 seed against 6 seed Clemson, New Mexico is actually favored. They’re underdogs on paper, but Vegas sees it differently. Jaelen House has been a beast as of late, and he scored 28 points in the Mountain West Championship.

Big-time players make big-time plays, and the son of former NBA Champion Eddie House clearly knows what it takes to win under the bright lights. We don’t think Clemson will be ready for this red-hot squad, as the Tigers have gone 1-3 in the month of March so far. This is a classic scenario of a hot team against a cold team, and we’re rolling with New Mexico -2.5 (-112 at DraftKings) with the second of our NCAA Tournament 2024 upset predictions.

March Madness 2024 Cinderella Teams Featuring College of Charleston & Samford

We gave you our main picks above, but now we want to touch on two more potential NCAA Tournament 2024 Cinderella teams. First, we’re intrigued by #13 College of Charleston. They will take on #4 Alabama, which seems like it would be an effortless win for the Crimson Tide.

However, we do not think this is the case. College of Charleston did lose in the round of 64 last year, but they hung around with San Diego State who went on to nearly win the whole tournament. The Cougars play aggressive defense and can make it very difficult on their opponents. If they can get after Alabama early and cause some frustration, this is a team that could win the game outright and potentially go on a run in March. They have all the makings of a Cinderella story, but we’ll see if they can get it done against Alabama.

Lastly, we want to focus in on #13 Samford, who will kick off the round of 64 against the #4 ranked Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas is definitely an experienced squad when it comes to March Madness, but Samford has some solid depth, and we aren’t convinced that Kansas is anything too special this season. Samford is a 7.5-point underdog, which seems about right, but they’re definitely capable of finding a way to win with their great depth. They could potentially tire Kansas out with their fresh legs, as the Jayhawks don’t have a deep rotation.

Samford averages 86 points per game thanks to their pace, and if they get hot, it could be a quick exit for Kansas. With our last NCAA Tournament 2024 Cinderella team, we’re rolling with Samford to defeat Kansas and move on in this tournament.
