Interactive Map Breaks Down MLB Fandom in Your Area

The New York Times' top cartographers have been hard at work bringing this interactive map of MLB fans to the Internet. Using aggregated data from Facebook, they have been able to precisely quantify -- down to the zip code -- the geography of MLB fandom. The maps are based on how many "likes" a team got in each zip code, with an algorithm that filled in the missing pieces in the map.

The Times' interactive report has two main features: the map of the United States and 14 maps of baseball's biggest rivalries (with some pretty great names for the lines dividing them -- Mets and Phillies fans are divided by the Sub-Hoagie Line). Other points of interest: Hartford and New Haven are harboring Yankee fugitives, and if you live in Alaska, you just kind of pick whatever team feels right.

You can browse the map here.
