Hunter Pence rode the subway to Wednesday's game against the Mets

San Francisco Giants centerfielder Hunter Pence took the subway to Wednesday's game against the New York Mets.

While former Braves pitcher John Rocker infamously told Sports Illustrated in 1999 all the reasons why he hated New York and wouldn't want to ride the subway to the ballpark, Giants centerfielder Hunter Pence decided to take the 7 train to Citi Field on Wednesday.

The Giants are playing the second game of a three-game set in Queens but Pence has a wrist injury that could land him on the disabled list, so he didn't have to be at the ballpark too early.

Pence isn't the only player opt for a mass transit commute to Flushing. Back in April, Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki and infielder Daniel Muno took the train together to Plawecki's first major-league game.
