Michael Phelps could tell right away his glare would be a meme
Michael Phelps’s 2016 Olympic résumé includes six medals and one iconic meme.
Phelps’s glare at rival Chad le Clos rivaled Usain Bolt’s victory grin as the biggest meme of the Olympics, and it sounds like Phelps wasn’t surprised at all.
Phelps was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday and said he knew the minute he made the face that it was going to blow up.

And what was the reason he made the face? Phelps said at the VMAs on Sunday that he was listening to “Stick Talk” by Future.
