Phils agree to terms with Schneider

The Phillies have agreed to terms with Brian Schneider to be their backup catcher, sources confirmed to SI.com. The deal is contingent on a physical.

The Mets, meanwhile, have a deal with ex-Phillie catcher Chris Coste and are likely to sign Henry Blanco, as well. Blanco would serve as the Mets' backup catcher with Coste likely going to Triple-A.

The Mets remain interested in Bengie Molina, who is a free agent, as a possible starting catcher.

The Allentown Morning Call first reported the Schneider deal.
