Free-agent catcher Rod Barajas agreed to sign with the Mets, SI.com has learned.

Barajas, 34, got a one-year deal for a little less than $1 million and is expected to get a chance to start behind the plate for New York.

He batted just .226 for the Blue Jays last season but hit 19 home runs with 71 RBIs. The Mets will be the fifth major-league team for the 11-year veteran, who had also been negotiating with the Rangers.
