White Sox deny Yankees permission to talk to Cooper

The Yankees tried for White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper but the Sox declined New York's request to speak with him about a position. It appears Cooper, who has a year to go on his contract with the White Sox, may in fact have headed the Yankees' list to replace Dave Eiland.

The Yankees have a meeting planned with A's minor league pitching coordinator Gil Patterson, the New York Post reported.
