Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Bud Norris will likely be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday after an MRI revealed a right groin strain, reports the Baltimore Sun

Norris left his start last Saturday after five innings upon feeling tightness in his groin. He was scratched from his next scheduled start this Friday after throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Chris Tillman will start in his place, and the Orioles are hopeful that Norris will only miss one other start before returning.

More from the Sun:

“We’re going to take a conservative approach and give him some additional rest,” Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said. “If we take it easy now, then it can heal and we can avoid it from going in the other direction.”

Norris is 7-5 in 14 starts this season and has a 3.62 ERA.
