The Boston Red Sox have traded Jake Peavy to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for two minor-league pitchers, reports CBS Sports Jon Heyman.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Red Sox will acquire Giants prospects Edwin Escobar and Heath Hembree in the deal.

Peavy now returns to the NL West, where he spent eight seasons as a member of the San Diego Padres. In two years with Boston, Peavy recorded a record of 5-10 with a 4.48 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 188 2/3 innings.
