Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig left a spring training game against the Anaheim Angels in the fifth inning Thursday after colliding with teammate Howie Kendrick.

He was only taken out of the game for precautionary reasons, Dodgers broadcaster Alanna Rizzo reported, because he was hit in the neck and throat area.

Kendrick and Puig were chasing after a fly ball when Puig's head made contact with Kendrick's left elbow.

The 24-year-old Cuban native will begin his third major league season next week.

Last season he hit .296 with 16 home runs and 69 runs batted in for Los Angeles.
