Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes will take batting practice for first time since cracking a rib on April 27. Reyes is eligible to come off the disabled list today but still must go on a brief rehab assignment, manager John Gibbons said.

CY YOUNG WINNER NEEDS A WIN

Indians right-hander Corey Kluber is still looking for his first win of the season. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is 0-5 with a 5.04 ERA, and the Indians have lost all seven of his starts. Opponents are batting .290 against him after hitting .233 last season, when Kluber was 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA.

LEFT OUT

The Pirates will face a left-handed starter for just the fourth time when they oppose Philadelphia ace Cole Hamels (2-3, 3.68). No team in the majors has faced fewer lefties than Pittsburgh.

BEEN AROUND

Cardinals right-hander John Lackey will make his 309th career start against an American League team when he takes the mound against the Indians. He's 131-105 vs. the AL, including 8-8 in 20 starts against Cleveland. Lackey pitched for the Angels and Red Sox before being traded to St. Louis last July.

AS ADVERTISED

James Shields tries to open 5-0 in his first season with the San Diego Padres when he pitches at Seattle in an interleague game between teams that share a spring training complex in Arizona. On the mound for the Mariners is touted youngster Taijuan Walker, off to a disappointing start at 1-3 with an 8.13 ERA.

WELCOME BACK

Houston left-hander Brett Oberholtzer is set to make his season debut against San Francisco. Oberholtzer was projected as the team's No. 3 starter before developing a blister on his index finger. Also, outfielder George Springer is eligible to come off the seven-day concussion disabled list for the Astros.

HITLESS WONDER

Oakland's Coco Crisp is in danger of posting the longest hitless streak in Oakland history. Crisp has no hits in 25 at-bats this season since coming off the disabled list following elbow surgery. His regular-season hitless streak is at 38 at-bats since last Sept. 26, tied for the second longest in Oakland history. The record is 40 straight hitless at-bats by Jose Canseco in 1986.
