The Arizona Diamondbacks have extended the contract of manager Chip Hale through at least the 2017, reports Jon Morosi of Fox Sports.

Hale was heading into the final year of his contract in 2016 after signing a two-year contract in 2014.

This is Hale's first managerial job in the majors after having served as a bench coach under Bob Melvin and the manager of Triple A Tuscon Sidewinders for three seasons.

The Diamondbacks finished last season with a 79–83 record.
