Yankees edge Rays despite managing only one hit

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi had a no-hitter broken up by the bat of New York Yankees infielder Starlin Castro in the seventh inning Sunday.
After Odorizzi walked Brett Gardner with one out in the inning, Castro crushed a 1–0 fastball, homering to center field to give the Yankees a 2–1 lead. The score held as New York went on to beat the Rays despite managing just that one hit.
Odorizzi was pitching a perfect game after five innings, and looked poised to keep it going after getting the first batter out in the top of the sixth. However, shortstop Brad Miller double-clutched on a ground ball from Dustin Ackley, resulting in Ackley beating out the throw at first base.

Rather than a base hit being awarded, an error was called on Miller, keeping the chance for a no-hitter alive. The next hitter grounded into a double play.
Odorizzi gave up one hit and one walk on 108 pitches. Nathan Eovaldi got the win for the Yankees after giving up one run in six innings, with the Dellin Betances-Andrew Miller-Aroldis Chapman trio closing the door for New York.
