Sergio Romo Wore Cap Signed by Young Fans for Final Giants Appearance

Over the course of a nine-year career with the Giants, pitcher Sergio Romo evolved into both one of baseball's most effective relievers and a fan favorite. He registered 84 saves for San Francisco from 2008 to ’16, seventh-most in franchise history, and won three World Series titles.

However, it was gestures like the one he made for his farewell game Friday that most endured Romo to the Bay Area faithful.

In the Giants' 12–6 exhibition loss to the Athletics—a game for which he signed a contract that put him in a San Francisco uniform for the first time in seven years—Romo wore a cap decorated with autographs from young fans.

According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, every time a young fan asked Romo for an autograph in spring training, he asked for one in return.

The reliever gave up two hits and walked a batter before being removed to a thunderous ovation at Oracle Park.
