Warriors guard Stephen Curry named NBA's 2014-15 Most Valuable Player
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player, the league announced Monday.
Curry, 27, received 100 out of 130 first-place votes and 1,198 total points from a nationwide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Curry is the second Warriors player to win the award, joining Wilt Chamberlain, who won the MVP in 1959-60 when the franchise played in Philadelphia.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden (25 first-place votes, 936 points) was the runner-up for the award and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James (5 first-place votes, 552 points) came in third. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook and New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis rounded out the top five in the voting.

This season, Curry broke his own record for three-point field goals made in a single season with 286. He averaged 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game this season, which both ranked sixth in the NBA.

Curry helped lead the Warriors to the best regular-season record in the NBA (65–17). Golden State also averaged more points per game than any team in the NBA.
Curry had 22 points and seven assists in the Warriors' 101–86 Game 1 win over the Grizzlies in the Western Conference Semifinals on Sunday. He is averaging 31.4 points per game this postseason.
