Bucks Re-Sign Meyers Leonard for Remainder of 2022-23 Season
Meyers Leonard is set to stick around with the Bucks for the remainder of the 2022-23 NBA season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Meyers, who latched on with Milwaukee via a 10-day contract earlier this year, reportedly has signed a deal to extend his stay through the end of the season following the expiration of his second 10-day deal.
He’s appeared in five games for the Bucks this season, averaging 6.8 minutes, 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Leonard did not play at all during the 2021-22 season after he received a suspension from the NBA over his use of an antisemitic slur while live streaming a video game. Leonard addressed the incident in late February after joining the Bucks, calling it the “biggest mistake” of his life.
He was traded by the Heat to the Thunder shortly after the incident. Oklahoma City subsequently released him, and he remained unsigned until latching on with the Bucks. Additionally, the NBA fined the 7-footer $50,000.
While away from basketball, Leonard underwent surgery on his right ankle.
Leonard previously played for Portland and Miami, having been drafted by Trail Blazers in the first round (11th overall) of the 2012 NBA draft out of Illinois. The 31-year-old played seven seasons with the Blazers and two with the Heat.
