Report: Grant Williams Headlines Trade Between Celtics, Mavericks, Spurs

After four years with the Celtics, forward Grant Williams is reportedly headed elsewhere.

Boston is dealing Williams to the Mavericks in a three-way, sign-and-trade agreement, according to Wednesday evening reports from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Per Charania, the trade is a three-way swap. The Spurs will receive Dallas swingman Reggie Bullock and an unprotected pick swap in 2030. The Celtics will receive three second-round picks in 2024, ’25 and ’28.

Additionally, Wojnarowski reported that Williams—a restricted free agent—will sign a four-year, $53 million contract with the Mavericks.

Williams has increased his per-game scoring every year in the NBA, averaging a career-best 8.1 points in 25.9 minutes in 2023. He has been a key contributor on four consecutive Boston playoff teams, averaging double-digit points per game in the Celtics’ series against the Nets and Bucks in 2022.

Bullock, a veteran entering his 11th year in the league, has averaged 7.7 points per game with the Mavericks, Pistons, Knicks, Clippers, Lakers and Suns.
