Jeff Teague Hilariously Says Darius Garland Retired Him, De’Aaron Fox ‘Tried to Kill Me’

The post-playing career of longtime NBA guard Jeff Teague has been nothing short of spectacular if you’ve happened to catch any of his podcast/show appearances. The former first-round draft pick who played for five teams in his career, including lengthy stints with the Hawks and Timberwolves, has been an open book, revealing every hilarious story from his playing days.

Most recently, Teague spoke about two young guards in Kings star De’Aaron Fox and Cavaliers playmaker Darius Garland, joking that they made him “retire.” He backtracked slightly, and wound up pointing to Fox for his decision to move to the bench, and then Garland for sending him into retirement, as ClutchPoints revealed during Teague’s appearance on the Club 520 Podcast.

“[De'Aaron Fox] and Darius Garland retired me… Fox made me wanna go to the bench… He was running so fast one game, he just kept running at me ... my knees still suffering from them change of directions. He was running so fast I'm like, 'What did I do to him?'" Teague said.

“But I remember I dunked on [Fox] ... but after that, he tried to kill me.”

Teague unloading brutal honesty is refreshing, and also goes to show how impactful some of the young playmakers in the NBA have been in recent years. So much so, that apparently it made Teague decide he was ready for a new role, and then a new career.
