The Miami Dolphins have hired former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum in a consultant's role, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

Tannenbaum took over as GM of the Jets in 2006, and held the position until he was fired after the 2012 season

In 2013, Tannenbaum began working with a sports agency.

The Jets went to consecutive AFC championship games during Tannenbaum's tenure, but he was fired after a 6-10 season in 2012, and replaced by former Seahawks executive John Idzik. 

The Dolphins fired general manager Jeff Ireland at the end of last season. He was replaced by Dennis Hickey.
