The Carolina Panthers finished last season with a 12-4 record to win the NFC South. Despite their strong regular season, the team was unable to win a game in the postseason and fell to the San Francisco 49ers, who went on to lose to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game. 

The Panthers defense is led by star linebacker Luke Kuechly, the 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. 

Carolina notably lost wide receivers Steve Smith and Ted Ginn this offseason, with the pass catchers leaving for the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. The Panthers selected Kelvin Benjamin in the 2014 NFL Draft.
