Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson is under contract with the team through 2018, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Thompson signed a contract extension with the Packers in July, but terms of the deal weren't disclosed. According to Rapoport, the extension is for three years. Thompson had two years remaining on his old contract.

Thompson, 61, has been the team's general manager since 2005. Under his watch, the Packers have gone 86-57-1 and made the playoffs six times, including a Super Bowl championship in the 2010 season.

Green Bay opens the season Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
