Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew participated in practice Thursday for the first time since having surgery on his right hand on Sept. 8, according to CSN Bay Area

Jones-Drew missed Oakland's Week 2 game against the Houston Texans and could possibly play in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

CSN reports that he went through most individual drills during the portion of practice open to the press, and wore extra protection above the surgery site on his hand.

Last week, he said there was no pain in his hand and that the main issue was "getting the swelling down."

The 29-year-old had nine rushes for 11 yards during the Raiders' season opener. Last season he rushed for 803 yards and five touchdowns with the Jaguars.
