Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew is not expected to play in Week 2 against the Houston Texans because of an injured hand, CSN Bay Area's Scott Bair reports.

Jones-Drew had surgery on his right hand on Wednesday and has said he hopes to play this weekend. But Bair, citing several sources, reports Jones-Drew will not play.

While Jones-Drew has said otherwise, Bair reports his hand was broken during the Week 1 loss to the New York Jets.

“I’d love to go out there, but it’s a long season,” Jones-Drew said. “You want to make sure that everything is right and where it needs to be.

“The hand feels fine. There is no pain. We need to get the swelling down. That’s the main issue.”

Jones-Drew had nine carries for 11 yards in his first game with Oakland after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
