The Oakland Raiders have signed free-agent quarterback Christian Ponder, the team announced on Friday. Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that it is expected to be a one-year deal.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the Raiders were bringing Ponder in for a visit.

Ponder spent the first four years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, who drafted him No. 12 in 2011. He started 36 games in that time, including all 16 regular season games in 2012.

Last season, the 27-year-old appeared in two games and made one start for the Vikings, completing 50% of his passes for 222 yards and two interceptions.

In his only full NFL season in 2012, Ponder threw for 2,935 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 62.1% of his passes.
