Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy told reporters he thinks he has been successful in his quest to lose weight at his first public practice on Tuesday.

“I think I look good,” Lacy said, according to ESPN.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said in January that Lacy needed to lose weight or he would not be able to continue playing.

Lacy, 25, told reporters on Tuesday that he thought he handled the criticism well, and began doing P90X workouts as well as playing basketball and boxing to shed pounds.

“At the end of the day, we’re all grown men,” Lacy said. “Whether he calls me out, I just have to take care of that responsibility. You don't get mad or [lash] out or anything like that. You just take it as it is what it is and make it go away. I feel like I handled it well, and I held up my end of the bargain.”

ESPN reports that Lacy has lost 15 to 18 pounds and now weighs around 240 pounds, though his weight is listed at 234 on the Packers’ roster.

Last season, his third with the Packers, his performance declined significantlym as he ran for 758 yards with three touchdowns in 12 starts. He ran for more than 1,100 yards in each of his first two seasons.
