Buccaneers Sign Former Rams QB John Wolford

The Buccaneers announced Tuesday they are signing former Rams quarterback John Wolford. The details of the deal are unknown at this time.

Wolford now joins a quarterback room that consists of 2021 second-round pick Kyle Trask and former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield as the team looks for its new starting signal-caller to replace Tom Brady, who recently retired.

The 27-year-old went undrafted out of Wake Forest in 2018 but signed with the Jets that offseason. He wasn’t there for long and was cut that September. He was taken by the Arizona Hotshots in the November ’18 Alliance of American Football draft, but eventually returned to the NFL with the Rams in April ’19.

Over the past three seasons, he appeared in seven games, starting four of them, and tallied 626 passing yards on a completion percentage of 58.7% to go along with his one touchdown pass and five interceptions.

Both he and Mayfield were briefly teammates with the Rams in 2022 when the team claimed the Oklahoma product off waivers in December
