Browns Starting Joe Flacco vs. Rams Sets NFL Social Media Ablaze

After last taking the field in Week 18 of the 2022 season, quarterback Joe Flacco instantly became one of the buzziest names in the NFL on Friday after he was named the Browns' starting quarterback for Week 13.

Flacco, who joined Cleveland’s practice squad on Nov. 20, was tabbed as the club’s QB1 against the Rams following a week where he took starter’s reps in place of injured rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who sustained a concussion in Week 12.

With Thompson-Robinson still in concussion protocol and Deshaun Watson out for the year, the Browns’ choice came down to Flacco or third-stringer P.J. Walker, a starter in two of his six appearances this season. But, in the end, it was the 15-year veteran who earned the nod, sparking waves of reactions on social media from NFL fans and supporters, including Flacco’s alma mater, Delaware.

The banged-up Browns (7–4) enter Sunday’s road game looking to remain in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt, which, regardless of the outcome, seems to be a topic of interest for many as the 38-year-old former Super Bowl MVP looks to make some noise in Los Angeles:
