Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green could return from an upper-body injury on Friday against the Dallas Stars, according to The Washington Post.

Green sustained the injury in the Capitals' win 6-1 over Buffalo on Saturday. The injury forced him to sit out of Washington's 3-1 loss against the Rangers on Wednesday.

“I want to be able to play, play heavy, play strong, play firm,” Green said, according to The Washington Post. “If I can’t, then waiting one more day there where I can makes more sense. Especially this time of the season."

Green has five goals and is ranked third on the team with 33 assists.

The Capitals currently hold the Eastern Conference's first Wild Card spot, though they have just a two-point lead over eighth place Boston.
