David Ragan will replace Kyle Busch in the No. 18 Sprint Cup car for the next several weeks, Joe Gibbs Racing announced on Tuesday.

Busch suffered a compound fracture in his right leg and a fracture in his left foot during a crash in last Saturday's Xfinity Series race at Daytona. No timetable has been announced for Busch's return. He was taken to a North Carolina hospital near his home in Charlotte earlier this week.

NASCAR Talk's Nate Ryan reports Ragan will drive the No. 18 car until Erik Jones takes over at Kansas Speedway on May 9.

Ragan drove the No. 34 car for Front Row Motorsports in the Daytona 500 and finished 17th. Front Row has not announced a replacement for Ragan.

“We appreciate being able to work with Front Row Motorsports and (sponsor) CSX for David’s availability,” JGR owner Joe Gibbs said in a release. “We are fortunate to be able to have someone of David’s caliber behind the wheel while Kyle recovers."

Ragan's first race in the No. 18 car will be on Sunday in Atlanta.
