The NFL has announced that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore have been named the Air and Ground NFL Players of the Week.
Rodgers helped his team improve to 6-0 after leading the Packers to a 24-3 victory over the St. Louis Rams last weekend. The 27-year-old threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He has now thrown for 2037 yards and a league leading 17 passing touchdowns this season and has posted a 122.4 overall quarterback rating through six games this year. Gore ran for 141 yards in just 15 carries last Sunday, helping his team defeat the previously unbeaten Detroit Lions 25-19. Gore has ran for 100-or-more yards in each of his last three games and has a total of 541 yards on the ground this season. Last year, Gore failed to rush for at least 1000 yards for the first time since his rookie season in 2005-06.
