Darelle Revis pursued by Niners

The San Francisco 49ers are among a "handful of teams' pursuing New York Jets corner back Darelle Revis, according to a Yahoo! Sports report from Jason Cole.

San Francisco would be interested in Revis even if it meant landing the four-time Pro Bowl player for only one season. The team already has 11 selections in this year's draft and will get even more picks for trading quarterback Alex Smith to the Chiefs when the NFL year officially begins March 12.

But according to a tweet Thursday morning from NFL Insider Adam Schefter, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the Niners are not likely to pursue him at this time, fueling speculation that teams first want to see how he returns after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in September.

Revis signed a four-year, $46 million contract with the Jets in 2010, which includes $32.5 million in guarantees. According to his contract, he cannot be slapped with the franchise tag when his contract ends after next season.
