The Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts are prepared to enter a "bidding war" for Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Paul Kruger, The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reported Sunday.

Kruger will be one of the most highly coveted free agents on the open market. SI.com's Peter King ranked Kruger second among all free agents behind fellow pass rusher Cliff Avril of the Detroit Lions.

The Ravens will not be able to afford Kruger due to salary-cap constraints. The Browns and Colts — who are looking for a replacement for defensive end Dwight Freeney — are two natural fits.

One source told Wilson that Kruger could earn as much as $10 million to $12 million per season on the free-agent market. The 27-year-old is coming off his best season of four with the Ravens, and he played a key role in leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl XLVII win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Kruger had nine sacks in 2012. In the postseason, he had 4.5 sacks, including two of 49ers scrambling quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the Super Bowl.
