The San Francisco 49ers have signed Austin Collie to bolster their wide receiver corps, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal is for one year.

Collie played in one game for the Indianapolis Colts last season before tearing a patella tendon. Since entering the NFL in 2009, he has suffered three concussions. In 42 games with the Colts, the former BYU star caught 173 passes for 1,845 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The 49ers will be without Michael Crabtree (Achilles tear) for at least the first half of the season. Both Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams are currently on the PUP list, each rehabbing from an ACL tear.
