Wade Phillips named Houston Texans' interim head coach

With head coach Gary Kubiak still on the mend after collapsing at halftime of Sunday night's loss to the Colts, the Texans have named defensive coordinator Wade Phillips as their interim head coach, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The team said Kubiak is expected to make a full recovery, but no timetable has been given for his return.
Phillips, 66, has had five head-coaching stints, including two on an interim basis. He most recently spent three-plus seasons at the helm of the Dallas Cowboys, going 35-24 with two playoff appearances.
He was fired during the 2010 season and took over as defensive coordinator in Houston the next year. The Texans' defense allowed the fourth-most points in 2010 but the fourth fewest in its first year under Phillips.
His career record is 82-61 as head coach of the Saints (1985, interim), Broncos (1993-94), Bills (1998-2000), Falcons (2003, interim) and Cowboys (2007-10) and 1-5 in the playoffs.
The Texans (2-6) are in third place in the AFC South.
