The San Francisco 49ers are locked in a battle for one of two NFC wild-card spots, but they'll be adding a key weapon for the stretch run. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that wide receiver Michael Crabtree will be activated from the PUP list and will play Sunday.

Crabtree was the 49ers' leading receiver last season, hauling in 85 catches for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns. He excelled after Colin Kaepernick took over at quarterback, averaging 85 receiving yards per game and scoring five of his touchdowns in Kaepernick's seven starts.

KING: Kaepernick, 49ers finding their stride

Crabtree tore his Achilles in the offseason and hasn't played in 2013. He will line up across offseason acquisition Anquan Boldin to give the 49ers the most weapons they've had in the passing game since Kaepernick has been a starter.
