The Americans will play Ghana in the opener on June 16 at 7 p.m. ET in Natal, Brazil. It will be a rematch of the U.S.'s Round of 16 match in 2010, which it lost, 2-1. They will play Portugal on June 22 at 3 p.m. in Manaus and Germany on June 26 at 1 p.m. in Recife.

The U.S. is No. 14 in the FIFA World Rankings, Germany is No. 2, Portugal is No. 5 and Ghana is No. 24.

It will be the 10th World Cup appearance for the U.S., and seventh straight, with its best finish coming in 1930, when it finished third. The Americans have advanced past the group stage in three of the last five World Cups, including a quarterfinal loss to Germany in 2002. They defeated Portugal, 3-2, in the group stage that year to advance to the knockout round.

The U.S., which also lost to Ghana in 2006, is 7-17-5 in 29 World Cup matches.

Spain and Netherlands, who played in the 2010 final (won by Spain), have been paired in Group B and will play in the opener.
