Chane Behanan, who was dismissed from the Louisville basketball program earlier this week, will work with former NBA player John Lucas in Houston, according to Jeff Goodman of

Lucas runs a drug and alcohol treatment program for athletes and coaches, and he has worked with NFL player Tyrann Mathieu, former Kentucky and Texas Tech coach Billy Gillispie, Colorado State coach Larry Eustachy and former Rutgers coach Mike Rice.

Behanan didn't reveal the problem he needs to address.

"I'm hoping to go down there, take care of myself and then hopefully get another opportunity — wherever it may be," Behanan said Thursday morning. "I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. First I'm going to go get help."

The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 12 games this season for the Cardinals. He was suspended by coach Rick Pitino on Oct. 17 and reinstated after the season opener.

Behanan told he hasn't decided whether to transfer or to go pro, but he reportedly can't transfer to an ACC or AAC school. Among the schools that had reached out to Behanan are Arizona State, Northwestern, Utah, Delaware, Oregon and Iowa State, sources told Adam Zagoria.

Behanan helped Louisville to the Final Four his freshman year and had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Cardinals' championship game win over Michigan last year.

"I'm sorry that I let my teammates down, my family down and the coaching staff down," Behanan said. "I know the fans believed in me and stuck by me, and I apologize to them as well.

"Now I'm going to work on myself and being a better person. I'm still young and still learning. I'm hoping I can learn and get where I want to go in life."
