After telling police he smashed his own Ferrari earlier in the day, Richie Incognito checked himself into a psychiatric care facility in Arizona late Thursday night, according to NFL.com's Jeff Darlington.

The 30-year-old offensive lineman has been under "severe mental stress" since the Ted Wells report about the Jonathan Martin bullying case was released two weeks ago, according to Darlington.

Incognito told Scottsdale police checking on reported damage to the car that he did it himself. Here's what he told Fox 10 in Phoenix on Thursday:

"Oh that was that was just me venting, that was self expression, that's a piece of art. The happiest day of my life was when I got that car and now the second happiest day will be when I donate it to charity. The Ferrari is a story unto itself, the Ferrari is one entity, but I will tell you this the Ferrari is going to be for sale through my mission which is helping the brotherhood, whatever brotherhood it is."

Incognito, who has dealt with anger management issues in the past, has been difficult to get in touch with the past few months. Even his Dolphins teammates have been out of touch with the offensive lineman, according to National Football Post.

His parents also filed for divorce recently and he is supporting the family financially.

"If it was not for the kindness of our son we would have been living in a tent when we lost our home," Incognito's father wrote in a court filing. "I have a son at ASU. His tuition is paid by his brother."
