VIDEO: Martin Brodeur gets ovation from Devils fans after possible last game in NJ

After playing more than 20 seasons and winning three Stanley Cup championships with the team, legendary New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur may have played his final game with the franchise on Sunday.

Brodeur won on Sunday — his 668th in a storied career — with a 3-2 triumph over the Boston Bruins. And if it was the case that it was his final game as a Devil, the team's fans sent him off with a proper salute as time was winding down and after the victory.

It's unclear if Sunday was the last game Brodeur would play in his career, but it is looking increasingly likely he won't be back in New Jersey. Late last month, he said there was an 80 percent chance he'd play next year.

But he also wants to be the primary starting goaltender, something that doesn't quite jibe with his situation in New Jersey this year. Brodeur split time with 28-year-old Cory Schneider this season.

“Not playing as much, it was difficult,” Brodeur told reporters after the game, according to The Star-Ledger. “The position that the coaching staff was in having two goalies, it just doesn’t work. It didn’t work in Vancouver and it didn’t work here too good. We didn’t make the playoffs. When you have one good goalie you have to give him the bulk of the work. Schneids will get that from now on.”
