Weekly NET: Cincinnati Losing Ground to Rest of AAC

The Bearcats went 1-1 against the two worst teams in the conference last week.

CINCINNATI — UC's fall down the NET rankings continued this week after losing 83-77 at Tulsa on Saturday night. The Bearcats fell seven spots to No. 79 in the latest rankings check-in.

Cincinnati had to go 2-0 on the road last week against the two worst teams in the conference, and that didn't happen. They are now all but guaranteed to miss the NCAA Tournament unless they win the AAC Tournament.

Zooming in on the rest of the conference, Houston has now lost back-to-back conference games, moving them from No. 2 to No. 5. Memphis notched one of those wins against Houston and moved up 15 spots to No. 44. SMU is right behind them at No. 45, and Wichita State is four spots ahead of Cincinnati at No. 75.

UCF rounded out the top-100 AAC teams at No. 89. With seven games left, Cincinnati likely needs to win out for an outside shot at an NCAA Tournament at-large bid. That's a tall order with Houston, Memphis, Wichita State, SMU, and UCF all still on the schedule.
