Weekly NET: Cincinnati Stays in Top-50 After Wild Week of Scheduling

The Bearcats went 2-0 against Florida A&M and Ashland University last week.

CINCINNATI — UC men's basketball added two games to its NET ranking ledger last week and didn't move at all in the weekly rankings check.

Cincinnati is No. 48 after filing into the same spot last week. The Bearcats destroyed Florida A&M 77-50 on Tuesday and took their foot off the gas pedal in a 71-57 result over DII Ashland University.

Cincinnati scheduled the Ashland game in less than 24 hours after Texas Southern pulled out due to COVID-19 issues. Wes Miller is always trying to give his team reps to get better, and he wasn't going to deny them on Saturday.

Every spot in the top-six is represented by a different conference this week, with No. 5 Houston pacing the AAC. Elsewhere, No. 45 UCF is the only AAC-team ranked above Cincinnati. The No. 55 Memphis Tigers follow Cincinnati along with No. 74 Wichita State and No. 85 SMU to round out the top-five AAC teams.

UCF took out Temple 65-48 in the only AAC game played this early in the season. Cincinnati and SMU are tied at 9-3 for the second-best record in the league. Houston leads the way among all AAC teams at 10-2.

Cincinnati has one more non-conference game left, and it's also the only game they play this week. UC faces Tennessee Tech on Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena. The game tips off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Wes Miller's team opens conference play at Houston next Tuesday.
