CINCINNATI — UC quarterbacks coach Pete Thomas was the first guest on the new Cincinnati Athletics 513 show with Tony Pike and he broke down how beneficial the new practice facility is about to be when it officially opens on June 11.

Thomas is glad to maybe have a new problem on his plate: Keeping Brendan Sorsby & Co. from throwing too much in the new digs.

"It's huge, we'll be outside, weather comes in, we just go right in the indoor facility," Thomas noted. "Or, the guys are lifting, and they can go right out to the indoor facility talking to Sorsby yesterday. He's like, 'Man, we're going to be an indoor throwing all the time.' So it's probably going to have to be one of those things where, 'Hey, man, stop throwing, go home.'

"I think the players are going to be in there all the time, almost too much, but us all being right there instead of them being on the basement floor, and we're on floor seven, it's one flight of stairs, they will be up in our office all the time, the player's lounge, the locker room, and it levels the playing field with our competition that we're facing."

Sorsby echoed the importance at last week's Ball & Brew event and it should help a player-led program get even tighter as they acclimate to their own personalized space away from the Lindner Center.

"I think it's a player-led program, which I think is really important," Thomas said on the show. "Some of the best teams I've been on or around are led by the players and led by the team captains and I think the players and the coaches are all pulling in the same direction, which is really really important for a football program with the coaching staff and the players in that locker room."
