Soccer Player Scores Own Goal, Demands To Be Taken Off Field, Starts Crying

Here's a tough day at the office.

Real Betis is at the bottom of Spain's La Liga and is likely headed for relegation regardless of how well they close out the season, but that didn't lessen defender Paulao's devastation after a bad pass created a goal for the opposing squad. Matters didn't improve when he directly scored an own goal shortly after.

Paulao's teammates and competitors alike tried to console him, but he could barely hold back his tears as he asked to be removed from the game despite it still being the first half. Once he reached the bench the waterworks began.

Betis coach Gabi Calderon told The Guardian that the mistakes were too much for the defender after a long season.

"He couldn't cope with feeling responsible; he couldn't carry on after the mistake."
