JT Granato is a three-star quarterback recruit who led Kinkaid high school to an unbeaten 11-0 season while throwing for 3,500 yards and 42 touchdowns. He is also a cat lover, which is what nearby Rice University decided to focus on when recruiting the junior.

Granato's father says a letter came to the house for Kitty Granato from Rice offensive coordinator Billy Lynch, encouraging the quarterback to stay near his hometown.

"As you know we’re trying to convince J.T. Rice is the place for him. I know you’d like to keep him close so he can feed you and change the litter box. Please help us to get him to choose us. Paw me if you have any questions.”

The ploy turned out to be effective -- although it's not difficult to see it going very wrong -- as Granato announced he would be attending Rice earlier this week.

The cat has since been hired by Texas as its head recruiting coordinator.
