Aussie rules football player attempts to strangle opponent during match

Well, that escalated quickly.

Aussie rules football player Brian Lake attempted to strangle opponent Drew Petrie in a match last week.

According to Australia's Herald Sun, Lake has been charged with misconduct and the incident is being handled by the AFL Tribunal.

Petrie seems to be taking his near-murder in stride, saying "I'm OK with it. [It's a] physical game, things happen in games. ... We managed to have a bit of a tussle there for a moment and got up and got on with the game." He also said, "I didn't mean to gouge or scratch him. ... If it was my doing putting the scratch on his face, I didn't mean to scratch him."  Uh... dude, you don't have to apologize. You were being strangled.

This whole thing is being settled so amicably, I'm wondering if this is an elaborate "You're not you when you're hungry" ad campaign by Snickers.
